DIVERSITY AND INTERNATIONALIZATION ARTIFACT #2: CHANUKKAH PARTY
While a student at North Idaho College last winter (2013) I was granted the privilege of giving NIC students their first-ever taste of the Hebrew tradition of celebrating Chanukkah. The Diversity Department at the college funded the event, printed all the materials I requested and the culinary department catered the event, using my recipes. 133 people attended from the college and the community. They enjoyed a 3 hour party. This artifact showcases my ability to bring the rich culture of Israel to a public college setting. Through it I was able to bring people into an awareness of a different culture from their own including sights, sounds and tastes. The night included 3 YouTube videos from 3 different perspectives within Israel (Orthodox, Secular Jew and Messianic Jew). The poster below is my creation for the event. I'm including a few slides from the slide show that played during the meal.
